This five part series is dyed with indigo and onion skins. Each piece measures 16" x 42". Shine was woven as a commission for a private client. I began this series in 2011; it took me about four years to weave since I was a full time elementary school teacher at the time. I feel this series was a pivot point for me, a beginning in Three Color Andean Pebble Weave and in morphing Celtic Knots from knots into other things. Three Color Andean Pebble Weave became my weave structure of choice and I have since tweaked the technique to weave more than three colors.
This piece won First Place and Best of Show ribbons at the 2016 Albuquerque Fiber Arts Fiesta. It was woven on a backstrap loom. Yarn is 100% wool, hand-dyed with natural dyes: indigo, madder, and chamisa flowers. I have adapted a three color Andean pebble weave technique to use five colors instead of three. Unlike a four color Andean pebble weave, this piece is not reversible. You can currently purchase Emerge here.
This piece was woven on a backstop loom as a wedding present. The yarn is dyed with onion skins and indigo.
This piece was a study for "Emerge." It won Second Place in the Small Expressions exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum for Convergence 2016. It was woven on a backstrap loom, made of 100% natural dyed wool. Dyed with madder, indigo and chamisa flowers.
